Aerospace & Aviation

Spin testing grew out of the need for a means to establish the integrity of jet engine rotor disks when jet engines were first being developed towards the end of the second world war.  Barbour Stockwell was involved form the very beginning, providing the requisite high speed turbine spin test drives from the early 1950’s onward.  

Aerospace applications rely on our unique capabilities to ensure successful test programs to support the development and manufacture of critical aerospace components. Our F.A.S.T. system uses our TC4 drive controller and corresponding software for precise speed control and data acquisition, as well as other key test parameters.

Automotive

While spin testing was originally introduced to support the development of jet engines, BSi has provided test rigs and services for the automotive industry as well. As early as the 1950’s, spin testing was employed by major automotive manufacturers to test the components of internal combustion engines; diesel as well as spark ignition.
